Prepare Your Fishing Gear With These Tips as Spring is Approaching

With Spring nearing, it’s time to come out of winter hibernatithon and prepare for all the activities spring has to offer, such as fishing. The best way to start prepping is by getting your tackle box in order. Not sure what to bring? There are endless amounts of gear to bring along on your trip, but we’ve got you covered with the basics. Here’s a rundown of some tackle box essentials and a few toys to elevate your fishing game.

Hooks:

Worm hooks are the best choice for several types of fish such as Smallmouth and Largemouth Bass, Redfish, and Speckled Trout. This type of hook can be used in rocks, timber, and weeds. Be sure to pack a variety of hooks to take on any type of fish.

Lines:

Monofilament or Fluorocarbon? Monofilament is generally more affordable with great buoyancy, whereas Fluorocarbon is more expensive but less visible in the water. Because fluorocarbon is also more durable, you may find it is best used in snag-prone areas.

Sinkers:

To get to the bottom fast, pyramid sinkers are the best option. If you need something to move over rocks and other obstacles quickly, egg shape sinkers will get the job done.

Floats/Bobbers:

Choose a fixed float for shallow water fishing and use a slip float for deep water fishing. If you can’t decide which fixed or slip bobbers shape to use, throw a variety in your tackle box since they don’t require too much space.

Artificial Bait vs Live Bait:

Using live bait is generally cheaper, but tends to be messier and has a limited life span. The added cost of artificial bait comes with a longer life span which can pay off if you don’t get out on the water as often as you’d like.

PowerRay® Drone:

This new technology won’t fit in your tackle box, but if you don’t have the patience for traditional fishing, it’s perfect for you. Using a sonar system with LED lights, this drone uses a remote bait drop while taking your hook to your desired location and attracts the fish for you. It also provides a live video feed and underwater photos. Pre-orders have started February 27 for this drone that attracts the fish for you.

SKINZIT® Electric Fish Skinner:

After a successful day on the water, this handy gadget will help cut down on prep time. This is a quick and easy way to clean and skin those tough catches of the day without wasting any part of the fish.
Whether you are trying new gadgets out or keeping it simple, the water is waiting for you. Remember, to get the most out of your fishing trip this season preparation is key.
Regardless of where you fish, with a well stocked tackle box you’re sure to have a great day on the water.
